A. Location Data

To provide core location-based features, we access your device's location information:

Foreground Location (Fine/Coarse Location): Used to calculate accurate Islamic prayer times based on your current coordinates and to show you nearby Masjids.
Background Location (Background Location Access): We request permission to access location data in the background (even when the app is closed or not in use).

Background Location Collection & Use Disclosure

MasjidConnect collects location data to enable automatic prayer logging and masjid check-ins when you enter a followed masjid's geofenced boundary, even when the app is closed or not in use. This data is processed locally on your device to trigger geofence transitions. It is not shared, sold, or used for advertising.

B. Personal Data

Phone Number: We collect your phone number during the account registration process to verify your identity via a One-Time Password (OTP) and to authenticate you securely with Firebase Authentication.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for purposes described in this privacy policy or disclosed to you in connection with our services. These include:

To facilitate account creation and login processes via secure phone authentication.
To calculate and show you accurate local prayer times.
To automatically mark your prayers as completed (Jama'ah tracker) when you visit followed masjids using geofences.
To display localized data and features, such as Masjids in your city.
To monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the app.

3. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or location data with third parties. We only share information with service providers (specifically Google Firebase) who assist us in operating our application, conducting our services, or serving our users, subject to strict confidentiality agreements.

4. Data Retention and Security

We retain your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law. We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal data. However, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.

You can review, change, or terminate your account at any time. You can also manage or disable location permissions through your mobile device's settings menu at any time. Disabling background location will prevent the automatic prayer logging feature from functioning when the app is closed.
